Special Programs: Summer Program

Program Fee

The Program Fee includes room & board (3 meals per day at AIU), bedding, room cleaning, and field trips. In addition to the Program Fee, students must pay for travel expenses from their point of origin to Akita, lunch during the bus trip (one trip only), personal and daily expenses and insurance.

Payment Method and Policy

Payment by the due date confirms the student’s participation in the Summer Program. Late or non-payment will result in cancellation of admission.

Successful Applicants will receive an invoice through Flywire. Please follow the instructions on the invoice to complete the payment.

If Flywire service is not available in the student’s country of residence, students must contact AIU for guidance on how to make the payment by a different method. In either case, students are required to complete the payment by April 10.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Students who wish to withdraw from the program must have their study abroad coordinator contact AIU by email no later than 5:00 p.m. JST on April 20.

Refund Policy

? Cancellation Before Payment Submission:
Students who cancel participation in the program but who have not yet submitted their payment will not be invoiced.

? Cancellation Before 5:00 p.m. JST on April 20:
If students cancel before 5:00 p.m. JST on April 20, a portion of the program fee will be refunded as below.
Exchange Students: 130,000JPY (50% of the Program Fee)
Fee-paying Students: 218,800JPY (Tuition Fee (88,800 JPY) and 50% of the Program Fee)

? Cancellation After the Deadline:
If AIU receives a cancellation notification after the deadline above, no amount of any fees already paid will be refunded, except the Tuition Fee (88,800 JPY) for those who have paid the Tuition and Processing Fee.

? Cancellation After the Program Begins (After students have arrived at AIU):
Refunds will not be provided under any circumstance.
